Rip Curl Pro 2019: Bell's Beach

No event on the WSL elite tour has a richer history than Bell’s. The beach has hosted surf competitions for nearly 60 years, making it the longest-running world championship level contest, and by far the most renowned spot on the southern coast of Victoria, Australia. The list of past winners is a who’s who of surfing icons, many of which are World Champions.

Kelly Slater, Mick Fanning and Mark Richards all have an astonishing four Bell’s trophies under their belt, with other serial winners including Michael Peterson, Sunny Garcia and Joel Parkinson. And it’s the same for the women. Steph Gilmore and Lisa Andersen have four Bell’s titles, and a number of other iconic females have two or three, from Layne Beachley to Courtney Conlogue.

The wave at Bell’s Beach is a wide-open canvas, where surfers carve their signature moves in front of the gawking eyes of spectators, in the hope of taking home the coveted cup.

This year’s Rip Curl Pro will take place between Wednesday 17th April – Saturday 27th April 2019. It’s tradition that the competition waiting period includes the Easter long weekend.
