Nyord Hits Lost Shore: Pushing the Solu Wetsuit to the Limit

Surfing·

Earlier this season, the Nyord team made the trek up to Lost Shore Wave Pool in Edinburgh — Europe’s premier inland surf destination, for a full day of surfing, product testing, and pure fun.

Watch our edit of the day here:

A Unique Testing Ground

Located in a former quarry just outside Edinburgh, Lost Shore is one of the most advanced artificial wave facilities in the world, capable of producing hundreds of consistent, rideable waves per hour for surfers of all levels.

While the waves were dialled and fun, the real challenge came from the conditions themselves: unheated water that mirrors Scotland’s famously cold environment, making for a proper test of thermal performance and flexibility.

Solu Takes Centre Stage

At the heart of the trip was the Nyord Solu wetsuit, the latest generation of wetsuit built with Yulex 2.0 plant-based natural rubber.

Developed to blend performance, warmth, and sustainability, Solu combines this advanced rubber with recycled thermal linings and smart panel placement for maximum stretch and durability.

Harsh Conditions, Elite Performance

From the moment the team hit the water, it was clear that these suits weren’t just for show. The Solu range delivered in every key area:

  • Warmth: The plush thermal lining trapped heat even in colder water, keeping riders comfortable through long sessions.
  • Flexibility: Yulex 2.0’s superb elasticity meant paddling and popping up felt natural — no restriction, no drag.
  • Durability: Repeated wipeouts, long waits between sets, and plenty of wave after wave didn’t faze the suits. They stood up to serious use with zero compromise.

The Solu proved that you don’t need to sacrifice performance for sustainability and that the eco-focused construction can handle tough, cold-water sessions with confidence.

Why It Matters

For Nyord, trips like this are more than just good fun, they’re real, real-world testing.

Seeing the Solu perform at Lost Shore under challenging conditions reinforces what the team has been building toward: wetsuits that are warm, flexible, reliable, and better for the planet.

Whether you’re chasing waves on the coast or chasing consistency in a wave pool, Solu stands ready to elevate your session from start to finish.
