Mystic's 2021/22 Wetsuit Run-through

This article was last updated in 2021. It may describe products, prices or events that have since changed.

The watersports brand built by watersports enthusiasts, Mystic has been around for 20 years and is the leading wetsuit brand in kitesurfing, windsurfing, wakeboarding and foiling. With the Mystic family comes an even higher level of passion for seeking out the most extreme conditions to thrive in, so you can count on the office being oddly quiet if the conditions are going off.

They are now entering the world of surfing. This year Mystic signed big-wave surfer Conor Maguire, who carves down rolling icy liquid mountains off the west coast of Ireland throughout the winter in the harshest conditions the Atlantic can throw at him. We’ve also got some up-and-coming groms tearing about, like Malakai Hagley, who is a Croyde local and surfs the biggest barrels he can find down on the west coast.

As we are heading into winter the days get shorter, the nights get longer and our neoprene gets thicker. Mystic have brought out their AW21/22 range and it is looking super fresh.

Here's what you need to know about their new wetsuits, from the high range and mid range to the essential range.

Voltt (Men’s) & Gem (Women’s) Hooded FZ 6/4/3mm - High Range

If you’re a head-out-in-any-conditions-and-temperatures kind of person, then this suit is your winter staple. This will see you through those wintry sessions from December through to March and it even comes with a built-in hood to prevent icy water neck flushing!

So why does this suit keep you so toasty? It’s down to the cuff-to-cuff liner. What’s that, I hear you ask? Turn the wetsuit inside out and you will see it has an orange liner, made up of Flaremesh+ and Fox Fleece, which keeps you warm and the cold out. Using the cold as an excuse is no longer a legit get-out-of-jail-free card.

The wetsuit is made from Yamamoto 39 neoprene, which is a more environmentally friendly neoprene made from limestone instead of petroleum. It’s noticeably more flexible, and the waste energy from the process is used to heat local eel farms. Check out Mystic’s website to read more about the Mystic Next programme, making small eco-friendly changes to try and move to a more sustainable future.

There’s so much to talk about with this wetsuit, but one more for the road is that it’s got an embossed rear knee section, which is not only unique to Mystic, but the pre-curved shape makes a huge difference to your flexibility, hello faster and smoother pop-ups!

Majestic (Men’s) & Jayde (Women’s) FZ 5/4mm - High Range

This is a staple in the team’s line-up, whether they are wakeboarding, kitesurfing or surfing - the Majestic & Jayde are true team favourites. Built to withstand any conditions the UK throws at you. With Yamamoto 39 neoprene, Flaremesh+ in the chest, back and lower body and embossed knee areas, these suits are warm and flexible, everything you could possibly want from a winter wetsuit. The Jayde especially stands out with its popping designs which come in two different options, dark grey with a bright arm design, and then black with a natural floral design. Both patterns will make sure you stand out in the water but in an understated way, while letting your shredding do the talking.

Both of these wetsuits are the lightest and most flexible of the high-end range, having a little less of the Flaremesh compared to the Voltt & Gem. Not having the same amount of thermal protection means you can get your flex on a little more. Everything is a trade-off.

The One 5/3mm Zip Free - Men’s - High Range

The One! Mystic have found it, so you don’t have to! This zipless wonder comes in a stealthy black and a chic grey for those who want to stand out. Again, this wetsuit delivers warmth and flexibility in the form of M-Flex 2.0 neoprene, Hex-tech knee pads and Polar Lining in the chest and back. The One has grabbed everyone’s attention with its looks, and will keep everyone’s attention with its tech.

Marshall (Men’s) & Dazzled (Women’s) FZ 5/3mm - Mid Range

These wetsuits are here to stand out with super poppy colourways for this winter! This is Mystic’s best-selling front zip suit in the range, which has been a solid go-to for mid-range customers since it was first introduced into the line. From this wetsuit, you will get 100% M-Flex, high-tech knee pads, waterproof stretch taping in critical areas and Fox Fleece in the chest, back & lower body.

Let’s talk about those colourways. The Marshall comes in three colourways - black & grey, black & green and navy & mustard. With a full-colour block for the entire body and then a complementary colour for the left arm, this wetsuit really stands out!

The Dazzled comes in not two, but FOUR colourways! Two for a back zip and two for a front zip. All four designs are poppy and stand out with colour panels hitting the wetsuit in extremely flattering and feminine ways, but have all the warmth and flexibility to allow your athletic prowess to do the talking. Plenty of choice for women wanting to make a statement this winter.

Star (Men’s & Women’s) FZ & BZ 5/3mm - Essential Range

For our essential range, this is one solid wetsuit. With the wetsuit coming in a variety of colourways depending on what thickness you go for, and whether it’s a front zip or back zip, the choice is yours!

It’s super flexible with M-Flex neoprene, warm with Fox Fleece in the chest and back and junction taping on the inside, all of which helps you have a great session in the water. The women’s Star comes in two colourways, a chic black and a stunning night blue!

So that’s the range! Once you have figured out your budget and the conditions and temperatures you’ll be in, you should be able to work out easily which wetsuit suits your needs.
